The Family

Hola, I am Annette Pichlmaier, the founder of Impulses for a Better Life.

If there’s one thing that has always driven me, it’s the deep curiosity about how we shape our own lives.
What holds us back?
How do we break free from limitations—especially the ones we don’t even realize we’ve placed on ourselves?
And how can we create real, lasting change?
I love exploring these questions—not just in theory, but in a way that’s practical, real, and applicable to daily life.
I just love finding the tools, blending the best techniques, and making change something that feels doable, supportive, and deeply personal.
That’s what I’m passionate about.
That’s why I do what I do.

A Little About My Journey

I grew up in a small Bavarian village, and my heart brought me south—to Spain, where I’ve lived since 1992.
In 1999, I discovered Louise Hay’s “You Can Heal Your Life”, and something clicked.
Could we really shift our reality by working with our thoughts?
That idea fascinated me, and I couldn’t stop exploring how we can reprogram our minds and transform our lives – not by waiting for circumstances to change, but by changing ourselves or our perception of them.
That passion led me to become:
– A certified Heal Your Life® Coach & Workshop Leader
– A multilingual PSYCH-K® facilitator (English, German, Spanish), with advanced Health & Wellbeing certifications
– A student of non-invasive traditional Chinese medicine, the Bodo Schäfer and Klaus Bernhardt methods
– A researcher in neuroplasticity, focused on the most effective and easy-to-integrate techniques for lasting change
– A current participant in the MTTC Mindfulness Teacher Training program
– A passionate book worm eating my way through over 10.000 books

The Power of the Mind
My most powerful lesson came ten years ago, when I personally experienced the healing potential of shifting limiting beliefs.
After undergoing eye surgery I developed a severe, persistent oedema and could barely see. I felt like I was nearly blind for six months.
Medical treatments failed. A cornea transplant was my only option – something I didn’t want to accept.
So I turned to the methods I believed in—PSYCH-K, neuroplasticity, and belief-shifting work.
Seven months later, my ophthalmologist was stunned: I had regained 90% of my vision, without surgery.
That was my undeniable proof – our thoughts, our beliefs, and the way we work with our minds can completely change our reality.
This experience solidified my belief in the power of the mind and the reason why I created Impulses for a Better life..

Hola, I am Graeme

When I was 16, my father took me to the Alternative Technology Centre in Machynlleth, Wales. Back then, painting radiators black to generate solar energy was cutting-edge technology. I was captivated—and I still have the original instruction book.

That visit got me hooked on thinking differently and exploring what was then considered weird. As well, I’ve always been drawn to ideas like Buddhism and alternative lifestyles—but more as a curious outsider than a full-on practitioner. I’ve read the books, tried the techniques, but mostly stayed in the mainstream.

I left the UK for Seville to work on the World Expo ’92. I loved it so much that I moved permanently to Spain, setting up my own event company, and working on all sorts of projects—like flying 5m-high fluorescent tube structures under helicopters and organizing corporate events across Europe. During the Expo, I also trained as a hot air balloon pilot—flying just for fun over the Himalayas and the Alps, and competing in Europe, Japan, and America.
Our friends signed us up to a seven-day silent meditation retreat during a holiday in India. I went in clueless, and came out fascinated. That trip slowly opened the door to a world I’d always been curious about but never fully explored.

The pivot point came during a very tough personal time. Fortunately, we found Psych-K. I trained as a facilitator in both English and Spanish and quickly experienced the results firsthand. I suffered from hay fever so badly I wanted to rip my eyes out—conventional medicine barely helped. One Psych-K session reduced my symptoms considerably; a few more cleared it completely. Sounds unbelievable? I get that—but for me, it worked. I also learned about Louise Hay’s Heal Your Life. The idea that actual thoughts can affect your health blew my mind—so I became a HYL instructor and coach, and studied Reiki.

I recently finished a year-long mindfulness teacher training course with Christopher Titmuss—which was amazing. Being aware of your actions, thoughts, and words at all times is a great way to start reducing stress, easing anxiety, and bringing more joy into daily life.

During this time of growth and learning, Annette and I decided to open our home as a retreat centre. It took us nearly eight years to design and build, and we’re proud to share it with you.
I still run the event company and help Annette run Impulses for Better a Life. And here we are—doing what we love and sharing it with others.

Hola! I am Irene Barreiro Domínguez.

My main goal is for every guest to feel at home the moment they arrive at one of our retreat centers. It doesn’t matter if I am meeting you for the first time, I want you to feel welcomed, valued and at ease. It is also profoundly exciting for me to meet new people from different backgrounds. It brings me so much joy to share stories, learn about others and form meaningful connections.

Personal development and wellbeing is also a deep-rooted passion for me. I believe that taking care of ourselves—mentally and emotionally—is just as important as any other aspect of life, and I strive to make Impulses for a Better Life a reflection of that philosophy.

One last thing that you should know about me is that I am an absolute foodie. Trying new cuisines is my favorite hobby. It is such an enchanting experience.

I can’t wait to welcome you and share a moment of kindness, conversation, and connection.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Hola , I am Perico.

I have been enjoying yoga and its poses for over 10 years.

For me, yoga is a way to learn, stay disciplined, and grow. It helps me focus on what I’m doing, stay present, and feel connected to the mat. I let my body and breath guide me, making me stronger and more confident as I progress.

The most important things are perseverance, self-trust, and practicing every day. Sometimes progress is fast, other times slower, but what matters is staying consistent and loving the practice. Yoga helps you handle tough situations in life and overcome hidden fears. As the body gets stronger and lighter, your mind also becomes clearer, and you feel more in tune with yourself.

For me, the key is to stay committed and trust the process—simply practicing for the sake of practicing.
